This is to use during the wine making process as a container. It is made according to the „ Barrel making Home Standard of the Kalina Cooper Trade” the KKÜ 07-1959. For the negotiated wish of a customer we can alter from the standard.
   

  50 litres/13 gallon oak barrel

 

This is popular amongst spare time wine makers and those with exploring spirits. The rest of wine or spirit is kept in it. This weighs little and can be cleaned easily. It is possible to carve a personal label or a piece of grape with its leave onto it. Smaller sized barrel is rarely needed.

  100 litres/26 gallon oak barrel

 

At bigger wineries, it is used to store the rest of wine (piece wine). Spare time wine makers also frequently use it because it is not too big and not too small either. Its form is a bit tubby as it has become familiar in the case of Hungarian barrels.

  114 litres/30 gallon barrique oak barrel – working as a relief emergency barrel

 

This type is not known in Hungary, although it has all the good qualities like its 100 litres peer has. It can be cleaned and moved easily, too. We offer it either for beginner wine makers, who make experiments, or for big wineries to hold the rest of wine in them. It is a perfect use when only a little wine is left out of a the big amount and we would not like our wine to get any troubles or volatile away. Its shape is longish, similar to a cigar.

  Barrel of Gönc, 136 litres/36 gallon

 

This is a winery liquid measure by the Tokaj Mountains. At the moment, instead of the former XIXth. century originated 160 old liquid measure, equals with, the 136 litres cubic capacity oak barrel is used, wich serves as a measure of capacity. It is used almost solely by the wine makers of the Tokaj Mountains. This has a really nice barrel shape. Due to our upbringing here, we keep this type close to our heart. For us, this means ’The pretty barrel’! Its cleaning is simple and easy.

  Barrel of Szerednye – Hungarian type

 

This is also a popular type amongst the wine makers of the Tokaj Mountains, basically the most frequent barrel type of this area. It is suitable to use by the excellent, great cellars. It has an optimal container and maturing capacity. Its place arrangement in the cellars is fine. In need, it can be saddled. It can also be said, just like about its friend from Gönc, that its shape is specious, really barrel like that remains close to our soul. Its cleaning and maintenance can be automatized.

  Type of Bordeaux – French type

 

This is the most current type in the world. This is beloved by all its users and is applied from the small cellars till the huge wineries. Its wine maturing quality is excellent because the wine touches here the biggest amount of wooden surface. Its place arrangement is good and the barrel also can be saddled. Due to its popularity, its maintenance and cleaning is automatized in many places. Its shape is longish, similar to a cigar.

  Burgundy type – French barrique barrel

 

Essentially, it differs from the Bordeaux type within its 3 litres bigger size. It has the same capabilities and qualities like its Bordeaux-ian brother, however, the younger brother enjoys greater popularity. This can hardly be explained.

  French type hybrid

 

At this type of huge- sized- barrel, the growth of the place arrangement becomes important. It can endanger the quality of wine compare to, the smaller barrels as well. All in all, it has its advantages as well.

  French type, 300 litres/79 gallon barrel – Hungarian type, 300 litres barrel

 

They have similar cubic capacity and the Hungarian is a bit tubby. These barrels affect the wine positively and negatively at the same time, although, the economical reasons and the growth of place arrangement becomes more important. The mechanical qualities are declining. Their maintenance is uneasier. Because of their weight, it is more complicated to move and to wash them. We offer for wines, which do not need a serious, long maturing period, when the wine makers do want to keep the fruitness of grape. It is suitable for quickly bottled wines and barrel fermentation. After pouring the must, the fermentation should happen in it (around October) and then, in around March and April the wine can be bottled.

  French type, 500 litres barrel – Hungarian type, great oak barrel, 500 litres

 

The same can be said, that we have mentioned in the case of 300 litres barrels. This type, as a consequence of its weight can be moved and cleaned very hard. If the 3-year-old dry oak material soaks itself, its weight can measure around 110 kgs. Presently, against this disadvantages, it is a highly favoured barrel by the Tokaj Mountains. During the past regime, the Eastern export was supplied out of these barrels while the Western market was supplied out of the 200 litres Szerednye barrels. Everybody can decide which is the most suitable barrel for themselves. Above this cubic capacity, the Kádár Cooper Trade does not produce barrels.
